About Me

First just a quick brief rundown about myself. My name is Eric and I’m an all round graphic artist in Australia, Sydney and have been working in the industry for quite sometime. You can visit my portfolio site at EricDesign.com.au to see the work I have created. I love making great visuals and basically I dig my head into anything that could to make a living but as well as having fun. I’ve worked on print advertisement, websites, a bit of mobile app, AR interface concept, previz, concept illustration, lecturing, 3D animation and TV commercials.

Creating visual graphics is my hobby and what I love doing as part of my job, living and breathing everyday. Through my extensive experience I have worked for various design studios, small companies to large international organisation providing graphic design services. I create high quality communication visuals in print from the little A5 fliers, brochures, newspaper to magazine print ads to developing branding identity. From the digital media world of the web and interactive devices. I have built websites when it first kicked off self learning html coding. To now providing UI (User Interface) advice, currently digging deep into learning SEO and social media marketing. To an even more extreme level I have also work on AR (Argument Reality) exploring UI graphic concept on innovative technology currently in development said to be the next big gadget hit. Add to the list I have also worked on animation, visual effects for TV commercials which gives me a sense of satisfaction when I see the result on the big screen in the cinemas or aired on TV. Mind you I also work on the boring stuff though the challenge is to find ways to streamline the process to get it done quicker and turn the boring stuff fun.

My inspiring personality is John Lasterier an animator who worked his way up the chain to become the chief creative officer at Pixar, his words “If you love what your do, you never work a day in your life.” Design can also be subjective, I put forward that I have great influence from the Japanese culture, the love of anime style and simplicity design. Though I’m not going to lie to you that everything is always perfect. There are rough days and tough days, especially as a freelancer when there is no new projects coming in, or problems hit us. It happens and will continue to happen. Though the challenge is to adapt and find a solution for better days ahead. Whether your also a creative artist or want to become one I hope we can learn to inspire each other. I’m passionate of what I do and don’t know if I consider myself just a geek in the visual world because I do have other interest as well. I enjoy traveling and snapping a few photos. If it is sports I like snowboarding but gee I get afraid going down the steep slopes and constantly fall. No being so good at it, somehow I’ll get myself back up to have another run. My typical Asian background shifted me to enjoy playing badminton. I watch F1 and get excited over the World Cup soccer matches, cheering for Australia to win any race or match. That the Aussie from me because this is a great nation I live in. From time to time I watch movies from the Hollywood blockbusters to the Japanese or Korean films. When I’m not exploring the visual world, I love to catch up with friends over a coffee or tea.
