Nausicaä Glider Model – Phase 1
Building Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Glider – Block modelling and shaping the form
I was looking for something simple yet also cool to model to improve my Blender skills. What I came across was a glider from one of my favourite Japanese anime movie Nausicaa of the valley of the wind from director Hayao Miyazaki.
If you haven’t heard about it watch the trailer below. Behind the idea of this Studio Ghibli 1984 movie still amazes me. The story, character, creatures, environment, vehicles are all unique and interesting.
So for this new set of project I’m going to take the glider from this anime movie and recreate a 3D model of it.
I watched and study this flying craft, and used the original sketches as my reference to build on this 3D model in Blender. You can watch a timelapse of my build on Nausicaä’s glider in this phase 1 episode.
