NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series GPU Launch

by Design SyncSeptember 2, 2020

What’s cooking in Jensen Huang kitchen? The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 3080 and 3090 Confirmed.

The announcement of the soon to be release NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series must have blew the gamers mind. From all the hype and spec talk, the numbers NVIDIA is marketing sounds incredible.

NVIDIA shows off a new innovative case design to reduce heat. However, looks doesn’t matter all that much when it gets shoved into a PC case right? The raw power is what we are all after. I’m more focus on seeing how this packs a punch out of render times in 3D applications especially like Maya, Max and Blender. The the announcement chart it looks to double the speed, hopefully it can stand by that. Hopefully by speeding speeding up the render clocks comes with a lower energy bill.

With all the speed and raw power, we beg to ask on more question. What is the price? NVIDIA leader of GPU’s offering their new fancy RTX 30 series at almost the same price launch of their first gen RTX 20 series. It’s competitive price that could kill off the Sony PS5 and Xbox Series X or even their nearest and only GPU rival AMD. Yes AMD really has to do something spectacular with their Big Navi to stay in the loop. With NVIDIA pricing release this will most likely devalue the older generation GPU’s RTX 20 series and shift 1080 card users to the newer RTX 30 series. It unfortunate those who recently purchased a RTX 2080 ti would feel at some lost for words.

At this stage it seem like only the NVLink (SLI-Ready) is only supported on the RTX 3080. You could see a similar situation down the track where a Super edition for the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 would carry this as a marketing point for NVIDIA.

Overall gamers should be very please with the announcement and anticipating to get their hands on the 2nd generation RTX. I guess I’m waiting to see how this performs on the latest Blender 2.9 release. I have a feeling this will be very good.
