Separate selected mesh to a new object

How to copy mesh area as a new object in Blender 2.8?

When you are modelling, it’s easy to extract a piece of mesh from an object, but how do you do it when you simply want to copy and paste a section of the mesh as a new object. You can always duplicate the object and remove the area you don’t want, though there is a much more faster way to achieving this process. Here is a quick Blender 2.8 guide how you can duplicate an area as a new object.

1. Within Edit mode by pressing the Tab key, and select the mesh area you want to duplicate.

2. Press Shift D to duplicate the selected faces, edges or vertices.

3. With your duplicated selection still selected, press P and choose Selection from the Separate popup menu.

4. You can choose move this selection by pressing G and then lock your axis to X, Y or Z.

5. Exit the Edit mode by pressing Tab and you will notice the mesh you had duplicated is now a separated object from the original mesh you had extracted.
