Omni Ultimate power bank review

by Design SyncJune 2, 2019

OmniCharge, the makers of premium power banks has released the Omni Ultimate.

Ordered back in September 2018 from the Indiegogo site my long awaited Omni Ultimate has finally arrived. That is about 9 months of waiting for this power beast. Since I’m based in Australia I got the EU version (230v AC) and not the US version (120v AC).

There wasn’t too much to it unboxing the unit. The packaging folds open with the flaps reviewing the Omni Ultimate and its accessories. It’s until when I picked up this power bank out of the cushioning that you instantly feel the build quality. It is solid, bulky and heavy. The design isn’t anything high tech, it’s just really made to do what it is supposed to do. Thick rubber frames around the unit to protect the Omni Ultimate from splash, bumps and rough handling. The ports just plug and play. The battery compartment slots out by unscrewing 6 screw points and the buttons and LCD is simple and just works easily like the Omnicharge.

What is amazing about this unit its raw power and the versatility of swapping the battery if you have spares. It has a 34,800 mAh (12×18650 cells, 125Wh), USB C port, a DC Output 5V – 60V up to 8A (150W max), 2 USB A ports and a 90W Max input 5V – 32V up to 4.5A.

Currently, there is nothing quite like the Omni Ultimate on the market. Since I have a solar power system I can temporarily go off the grid. It powers my TV, laptop, dual monitor setup, mobile devices, smartwatch, lamp and more. Unfortunately and obviously my power hungry desktop PC would chew it apart. Having said that, there is possibly nothing currently on the market that can power my desktop PC. The Omni Ultimate also has built-in technology that could cut the power off when it senses there is an overload current. However, it’s always best to make sure to plug the appropriate devices acceptable, in case of any further damages.

It’s definitely on the bulky and heavy side to take on a casual day out. However, if you going for an adventure or you’re in need of power for a full load of gears, then you will appreciate the extra raw juice.

When you use up all those juices, it takes about 4 hours to do a full recharge. Unlike the Omnicharge, the Omni Ultimate does not get hot, warm but again not hot. There is no internal fans to cool it down and no need of it.

It’s crazy and at the same time beautiful at what it does. The Omni Ultimate is quite an incredible product.

Positive Points:

Power ups most devices. From TV, laptops, drones, mobile, smartwatches, cameras and more.

Quickly charges from zero to full in about 4 hours.

Replaceable battery so you can go on and on.

Quality built, a very solid unit.

LCD and button function is bright and easy to navigate.

Negative Points:

Heavy and big to take it for a causal day out.

Only has 1 year warranty.

Dust can easily stick to the rubber areas of the unit.

No hard copy instruction manual, you have to download it from their link.
