When you have layers and layers and just need to find a specific layer, it can be daunting process. So as long as you have renamed your layers you can find them quickly with the search in Photoshop.
In the layers tab, click on the search icon (default it says Kind) and select Name from dropdown list. Type in the layer name your would like to search, Photoshop will then list all the layers under that search name. There is a up down switch that can be toggled to turn off the name search or you can simply change this by going back to the dropdown list to reselect Kind.
