Useful Photoshop 2019 Shortcut keys to speed up your workflow

I have been using Photoshop since version 3 that was way back around 1995. Yes, I’m an old designer fart and still using Photoshop to this day. From the years of experience, these are some of the shortcut keys I use to speed up my workflow. While 2019 and 2018 have slightly different keymaps most will still work on the Creative Cloud edition.

LAYERS:

Bring up the layers panel: F7

Move layer up: Ctrl Shift ] (Mac Command Shift ])

Move layer down: Ctrl Shift [ (Mac Command Shift [)

Merge Layers: Ctrl E (Mac Command E)

Lock Layer: Ctrl / (Mac Command /)

Rename layer and then shift down to the next layer: Tab


TEXT:

Text Tool: T

Increase or decrease text parameters (size, leading or kerning): Arrow Up or Arrow Down (Hold down Shift key for higher increment)


OPACITY:

Increase or decrease opacity: 0 to 9 (Works on top row keyboard or Numpad)


GENERAL NAVIGATION:

Zoom In: Ctrl + (Mac Command +)

Zoom Out: Ctrl – (Mac Command -)

Toggle between full screen mode: F

Move Tool: V

Hide Tool Panels: Tab

Transform Tool: Ctrl T (MacOS Command T)
2018 Hold down Shift key to scale proportion
2019 do not hold down
Shift key to scale proportion

BRUSH TOOL:

Reduce Brush Size: [

Enlarge Brush Size: ]
