Before you jump into create your animated banner ads, it’s always best to understand the spec requirements. Especially when it comes to animating this can save a lot of time. As of current, below is the general rules for standard banner ads for Google Ads (formly named Goolge AdWords), Google Marketing Platform (formly named DoubleClick).
1. Make sure you are working to the correct banner ad size.

It’s always good to have your files organised. This means keeping your imported elements in Google Web Designer (GWD) nice and clean. Often you can work faster, have a less chance of getting confused and allows other artist to jump into your files to work more efficiently in a team environment.
That being said there is a quick way to change your imported files in Google Web Designer (GWD) easily. You won’t even need to jump onto File Explorer or Finder to make changes and relink all your elements together.
1. Already have your assets imported in GWD, go to the Library panel.

Below is the parameters I usually use when I setup my HTML5 banner ads from the Create New Blank File menu. It’s the first step to start animating your banner ads.
Name: Give your banner ad a name.
Location: Where your file will be saved.
Environment: Where will your ad be published.In most cases I select Google Ads (this also includes ads publishing through Adwords).
If it is a non Google Ad, eg that goes directly to publication or thirdparty publisher like Sizmek I would select Display & Video 360.
